Anna Elizabeth Holland

Services for Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Holland, 94, of Monterey, La, will be 10:00 am Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Monterey Church of Christ with Bro. Russell Crum and Bro. Billy Wallace officiating, interment to follow at Flowery Mound Cemetery, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home. Mrs. Holland was born May 25, 1919 in Crandall, Tx, to Forrest and Lola Hudson and passed away October 5, 2013 in Jonesville, La. In 1940 Anna met Warren Jay in Simmons, Texas, where they married. They moved back to the “wilds of Louisiana” where they have lived for 73 years. “Miss Anna” was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She was a lover of flowers and birds. She especially loved Texas Bluebonnets. She was truly a virtuous woman. Miss Anna was a sweet and loving woman who loved her family, friends, and fellow church members. She was preceded in death by her parents Forrest Hudson and Lola Beard Hudson; two sisters, Vesta Spivey and Alta Koontz; four brothers, Fred Hudson, Forrest Hudson, Jewel Hudson, and Clarence Hudson. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Warren Jay Holland, Jr., their two children and their spouses, son Warren Jay Holland, III and wife Dean of Dickinson, Tx, and daughter Sue Lemoine and husband Ralph of Tyler, Tx; two grandsons, Eric Holland and wife Deepa of Dallas, Tx, and Kevin Lemoine and wife Miranda of Austin, Tx; two granddaughters, Kristi Lemoine of Washington, DC and Kari Lemoine Roberts of Dallas, Tx; great-grandchildren, Landon Holland of Dallas, Tx, Collin and Chloe Roberts of Dallas, Tx, and “adopted” grandchildren, Guylan and Elliot Britt of Monterey, La. Miss Anna is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and their spouses whom she loved dearly. Pallbearers are Wyatt Brown, Jeff Britt, Elliot Britt, James Stewart, John Spivey, and Richard Hudson. The family wishes to thank many people for their love and care of “Miss Anna,” care givers Catherine and Lloyd Paris, niece Kathy Dalrymple, nephew Butch Cross, Ann and Robert Campbell, the Jeff Britt family, the church family at Monterey Church of Christ, Tensas Home Health Care staff, the staff at the Columns Rest Home, Dr. Kevin Ingram and the Hospice staff. The family will receive friends at Monterey Church of Christ from 5 pm to 7 pm Tuesday, October 8, 2013.
