Funeral services for Barbara A. Bagley, 92 of Saint Joseph,LA was be held at First Baptist Church of St. Joseph on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at with Rev. Joe Odenwald officiating. Interment followed at Legion Memorial Cemetery, Newellton, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Barbara A. Bagley was born on Saturday, January 01, 1921 in Muskogee, OK. and passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Richland Parish Hospital. Barbara attended Dodd College and recieved her bachelors degree from Louisiana State University in 1938 where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was awarded a Masters in Speech and Hearing Therapy from Ball State University in Muncie, IN where she met her future husband, George. Barbara and her mother were charter members of the St. Joseph Baptist Church. She was active in the Ladies Auxillary of the National Soil and Water Conservation Districts when her husband George was President. She served on the Louisiana Board of Music and Performing Arts and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Orchestra in St. Joseph. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority. Having decended from several of the original settlers of America, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She began Lake Bruin Golf and Country Club and the Municipal Airport in St. Joseph. She liked flowers and big band music and was an ardent supporter of the Tensas Parish Library. Barbara put up a valiant fight against myleodysplasia. Eight years ago she agreed to take a new drug which extended her lifespan from a few months to 8 years. The family is so indebted to the doctors and their staffs who worked tirelessly to help her. Special thanks to Dr. Kenneth McDonald and Staff of Delhi, Drs. Jimmie Frank Howell and Larry Rice of Houston for their dedication. She thought the world of them. A warm thank you is offered to the ladies who gave such exceptional care, and special gratitude to Mary Nichols who was with her day and Night.. She was preceeded in death by: Husband - George Bagley, Sr., Father - Charles Allen Mother - Viola Allen Bufkin Sister - Margery Allen Berwick Granddaughter - Deanna Bagley McCrohan Daughter-in-law - Georgia Kimbrough Bagley Niece - Kathryn Berwick, Nephews - Lee Berwick, Jr. and Charles Allen Crigler, Survivors include 3 Children: - Michele Bagley Schulz and her husband Steve of Baton Rouge, LA,, George R. Bagley, Jr.and Lydia Bagley Lauer, 5grand children- Elise Laurent and husband Johnny Laurent of St. Petersburg, FL -Marlo Webb Lietz and husband Matt Lietz of Houston TX - Marci Schnebelen and husband Kyle Schnebelen of Baton Rouge - Brooke Kinnard and husband Roger Kinnard of Pensacola, FL -Blake Bagley Fowler and fiance' Gen Higgenbotham of Gonzales, LA 13 great grandchildren- Ryan Laurent, Whitney Laurent, Morgan Schnebelen and Haley Schnebelen of Baton Rouge. Rex Ensminger, Alexandra Ensminger, Harris Webb, and Laura Lietz of Houston TX: Garrett Kinnard, Ben Kinnard and Marshall Kinnard of Pensacola, FL; Courtney and Morgan Higgenbotham of Gonzales, LA 2 Great Great grandchildren- Dillon Ensminger and Iris Ensminger of Houston, TX.
