Wes Faulk officiating. Internment will follow at Rosefield Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Charles was born on Sunday, July 26, 1936 in Sicily Island, LA. and passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 in Vidalia, LA. He was a resident of Vidalia and a member of Vidalia First Baptist Church. Charles was owner and operator of Ellis Variety Store for over 25 years and later sold Insurance and made many friends with Lairds Funeral Home. Charles proudly served his Country in the United States Navy. He is preceded in death by Father- C. N. Smith Mother- Bertie Robinson Smith Brother- Buford Smith Sister- Adilene Smedley Sister- Clarice Welch He is survived by His wife of 54 years- Chloa Hyde Smith of Vidalia, LA Daughter- Lisa Hixon and her husband Chuck of Ruston, LA Daughter- Amanda Guillory and her husband Snoopy of Mittie, LA Grandson- Mason Hixon and his wife Ginny of Choudrant, LA Grandson- Spencer Burley and his wife Peyton of Houston, TX Granddaughter- Sarah Pender and her husband Garrett of Dallas, TX Granddaughter- Brittany Burley of Oberlin, LA 3 Sister-in-laws- Cheryl McGuffee, Cleo Pererio and Edna Hodges Niece- Ruthie Cooper of Rayville, LA He is also survived by a host of Nieces and Nephews Pallbearers will be Chuck Hixon, Mason Hixon, Garrett Pender, Snoopy Guillory, Spencer Burley and Claire Shields . Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene Thompson, Bob Partrige, R.V. Mize, Augusta Phillips, Raymond Phillips, Rodney Phillips, Justin McGuffee, Roger Moore, Monroe Roark and Mike Cooper.
