George Edward "Ed" Robertson

Funeral services for Mr. George Edward "Ed" Robertson, 82 ,of Ferriday, LA will be held at First Baptist Church - Ferriday LA. on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Wayne Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday. Mr. Robertson, a resident of Ferriday, was born May 8, 1925 in Memphis, TN and passed away Friday April 25, 2008 in Ferriday. He graduatted from Ferriday High School where he was a member of the band and also graduated from Northwestern State College in Natchitoches. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Mr. Robertson was formerly employed as a bookeeper at the R.E.A. and later at the Concordia Parish School Board. He retired as a salesman for Young's Funeral Home and Young American Life Ins. Co, then worked for Colvins Pharmacy and Medical Supply until 2003. He was a member fo the First Baptist Church of Ferriday and a former member of the Ferriday Kiwianis Club and Rifle Point Hunting Club. Having grown up on Mossgil Plantation outside of Clayton, La. he developed a love for hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was a member of Rifle Point Hunting Club for 50 years during this time he and his family spent many happy hours. He was preceded in Death by: His parents-Jane Inez Gordon, and George & Glennie Robertson Survivors include: Wife of 59 years Bonnie Robertson of Ferriday, La. Daughter-Cheryl Colvin & husband Bill of Ferriday, La. Son-Richard Robertson & wife Carol of Shreveport, La. Son-Pat Robertson of Shreveport, La. Grand children-Matt Colvin of Ferriday, La., Emily Merrill & husband Dan of Ferriday, La., Andy Colvin & wife Jenna of Naples, Fla., Heather Robertson of Monterey, La. Great grandchild-Sarah Anne Merrill of Ferriday, La. Also surviving are several neices & nephews The Pallbearers will be Matt & Andy Colvin, Dan Merrill, Mike Rabb, Bill Beasley, Mark Taunton, Rick Sibley, & Paul Riggs The Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Herman Gibson, Mike Bowers, Brent Taunton, Sam Endres, Alan Tompkins, & Charles Wood The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday LA. from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2008.
