Ivy "Bud" Ralph Price

Funeral services for Mr. Ivy Ralph “Bud” Price, 78, of Ferriday, La. will be held at Ridgecrest Baptist Church on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Preston Holder and Rev. Clois Cole officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island, La. under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday. Mr. Price was born May 10, 1932 in Ferriday, La. to Ivy J. Price and Helen Dabbs Price Hester. He departed his earthly home from Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, La. to go and rejoice with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 4, 2010. He married Dorothy Jean Gommert Price on March 13, 1954 while he was serving our country and stationed at Fort Hood, TX. He was a 1953 graduate from Waterproof High School in Waterproof, La. During his life he was a member of Tensas First Baptist Church in Waterproof, La., Sycamore Baptist Church in Vidalia, First Baptist Church in Ferriday, and Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ridgecrest. He has served as a deacon since 1968, serving Christ, members of the church and our surrounding communities. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and Fidelity Tires of Natchez. After retirement he was an avid substitute school bus driver for Concordia Parish School Board and a driver for Concordia Council of Aging. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ivy J. Price and Helen Dabbs Price Hester; sister, Ruth Price Stuart; and one daughter-in-law, Cora Butler Price. Survivors include: His wife of 56 years, Dorothy Jean Gommert Price of Ferriday, LA Son, Ralph E. Price and wife, Rhonda of Chelsea, AL Daughter, Janice D. Price of Ferriday, LA Son, Lionel Gene Price of Ferriday, LA Son, Daryle W. Price of Ferriday, LA Daughter, Jennifer L. Price of Brandon, MS Granddaughter, Christy L. Price and her fiancé’ Patrick Westcott of Helena, AL Grandson, Kevin J. Price of Chelsea, AL Granddaughter, Whitney S. Price Granger and husband, Justin of Jonesville, LA Grandson, Jared G. Price and fiancé’ Aimee Preuett of Alexandria, LA Sister, Edith Price Keyes of Waterproof, LA Aunt, Louise McLeod of Natchez, MS Sister-in-law, Lois Gommert Orsag of Buckholts, TX Two brother-in-laws, Woodrow “Sonny” Gommert of Temple, TX and Wilbert “Shorty” Gommert of Buckholts, TX Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins The pallbearers will be Odell Vining Sr., Milton Sanders, Melvin Hollas, Tommy Barron, Jared Price, Kevin Price, Justin Granger and Dickie Keyes. The honorary pallbearers will be Henry Butler, Tinker Renfrow, Angelo Latino and member of the Men’s Sunday School Class at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 6, 2010 beginning at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
