Funeral services for Jerry Roberts, 37, of Vidalia, LA will be held Friday, Dec. 15, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Vidalia with Rev. Dan Glenn and Rev. David McGuffee officiating. Interment will follow at Pinehill Baptist Church Cemetery near Urania, La. under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Vidalia. Jerry was born February 5, 1969 in Shreveport, LA and passed away Sunday December 10, 2006 near Waco Tx. . He was a resident of Vidalia, a patient care representative for Louisiana Home Care, and he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia. He served in the U.S. Army from 1987 until 1992 where he attained the rank of Sgt. E 5. While serving in the Army he was stationed in Iraq during operation Desert Storm. Jerry was involved in his community. He was currently serving District 3 B on the Concordia Parish School Board, an official with MPSA for the last seven years, and he was a volunteer coach at Vidalia High School. Jerry was instrumental in all aspects of the new field house currently under construction at Vidalia High School. . He was preceded in Death by: Paternal grandfather-Lonnie Roberts, Sr. Maternal grandparents-Ed & Bertha McDaniel Survivors include: Wife-Deanie Roberts of Vidalia, La. Son-Graham Roberts of Vidalia, La. Daughter-Karianna Roberts of Vidalia, La. Mother & Stepfather-Sue Cockerham & husband James of Vidalia, La. Father -Sonny Roberts of Clarks, La. Sister-Cindy Thornton of Vidalia, La. Sister-Pam Frank and husband Buddy of of Natchez, Miss. Grandmother-Selena Aycock Roberts of Olla, La. Mother & Father-in- law - Glen and Fern McKeithen of Olla, LA Sister-in-law - Becky Kuykendall and husband, Ren from Tyler, TX Brother-in-law - Caleb McKeithen and wife Kelly from Grayson, LA Stepbrother, Courtney Cockerham Stepsister, Nicole Lilly and husband, Kenneth Nephews-Zac & Aaron Wesson, Slick Frank, Greyson & Griffin Kuykendall,& Colson Thornton Nieces-Magen Roberson & husband Keith, Kaitlin Gaines & Maecee Thornton The Pallbearers will be Gary Simpson, Dee Faircloth, Johnny Lee Hoffpauir, Tracy Howard, Ren Kuykendall, Phillip Timmothy, Gary Paul Parnham, and Denny Hinson The Honorary Pallbearers will be Caleb McKeithen, Slick Frank, Zac Wesson, Aaron Wesson, Brett Hinson, Buddy Frank, Wade Thornton, Buddy Rouse, Shelby Ensminger, Carl Fuqua & the 2004 & 2005 Football and baseball & Fellow MPSA Officials Team of Vidalia The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM at the First Baptist Church Multi-purpose Building in Vidalia.
