J.M. "Booger" Trisler

On February 6, 2012, Monday morning at 12:10 A.M. in St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, God softly spoke the name of our dear loved one, J.M. "Booger" Trisler. He, in turn, answered the call and now his lengthy battle with cancer has ended. Booger, as he was affectionately know by most everyone, loved life--especially life filled with all things that included the activities of his grandchildren. In addition, Booger loved the outdoors--hunting, fishing, and especially ball playing. We've been told that if you ever met him on the ball field, you weren't soon to forget the encounter. Booger played to win. Booger was born on September 7, 1939, to the union of Mitchell E. and Eunice LaCroix Trisler. He is preceded in death by his father, M.E. Trisler and grandparents Walter and Minerva Trisler and Jim & Doshia LaCroix. Booger is survived by his wife of 40 years, Frances Paul Trisler and three children; one daughter, Glynda Richard and husband, Eric, two sons, Lee Trisler, and Jeffery Trisler and wife Alisha, all of Jonesville; five grandchildren remain to mourn their Poppa's passing: Matthew Hunter Trisler, Ryne Joseph and Reid Eric Richard, and Carly D Trisler and Alaina Rae Trisler. Booger was one of seven children, leaving behind Dickie Trisler and his wife Joy, Billy Trisler, Da-Da Trisler and wife Letta, all of Jonesville, Dottie Martin and her husband Gary of Elmer, Ann Trisler of Alpine, CA and Rhnea Bryan and her husband Ricky of Monterey; and along with a host of nieces and nephews. A certification of appreciation from the Army Corps of Engineers was presented to Mr. Trisler upon his retirement August 14, 2007. This Certificate may best describe Mr. Trisler's work ethic and dedication. Mr. Joseph M. "Booger" Trisler is recognized for 45 years of service protecting northeastern Louisiana from flooding. He began his service with the Tensas Basin Levee District as an equipment operator in 1962. He advanced to the position of levee maintenance superintendent in the district's Jonesville Division through his hard work and dedication to the mission of protecting the people of northeastern Louisiana. He served through tough flood fights in 1973 and 1991, often working 24 hours at a time when water was threatening. He has always been a responsible steward of public funding and his great knowledge of the levees and region will make it difficult to replace him. Mr. Trisler's contributions are deeply appreciated by the Vicksburg District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Michael C Wehr Colonel, Corps of Engineers. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 10:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 8 at the Mayna Church of God, fourteen miles south of Jonesville on highway 124. Services led by Rev. Lloyd Trisler and Rev. Mack Walker will begin the next day, February 9, at 10:00. Interment will follow at Palo Alto Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Riley Calhoun, Alan Taylor, Kevin Trisler, Harvey Ray White, Buddy Wilson, Tad Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Grandchildren: Hunter, Ryne, Reid, Carly & Alaina.
