Funeral services for Mr. Joel Parker, 75, of Vidalia, LA will be held at Pentecostals of the Miss-Lou, Ferriday, LA on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Gary Howington, Rev. George Guy, Rev. Wayne Watson and Rev. Dr. Irma Jean Holland officiating. Interment will follow at Harris Cemetery, Crowville, LA. under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday. Mr. Parker was born August 12, 1934 in Wisner, LA and passed away Wednesday January 06, 2010 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson,Ms. He was a resident of Vidalia, a Service manager for Sears, and a member of the Pentecostal Faith. He proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and the Korean War. He retired after 21 years of service being one of the youngest Chief Master Sgt. He earned many metals including the Silver Star and Bronze Star for valor. He was preceded in Death by: Father-Jessie Cordell Parker Mother-Myrtle Irma Tidwell Parker Three brothers-Alvin, Clifton, and Jessie Eugene Parker Three sisters-O'dean Wilson, Elsie Montpelier, and Vergie Parker Survivors include: Wife of 53 years Nell Parker of Vidalia, La. Son-Don Parker and wife Cherrie of Jefferson City, Mo. Son-Gary Parker and wife Dianne of Vidalia, La. One brother-Jerry Don "Buck" Parker and wife Bobbie of Harrisonburg, La. Six sisters-Arlene Parker of Monroe, Ohio, Arminta Eubanks of Harrisonburg, La., Jeanette Ford of Harrisonburg, La., Charlotte Watson of Shreveport, La., Leah Landrum of Jackson, Miss., and Patricia Parker of Jackson, Miss. One Grandson-Ryan Parker Three granddaughters-Kristi Augustine and husband Clint, Nikki Nunn and husband Russ and Kari Reichard and husband Mike Two great-granddaughters-Ava Grace and Emma Claire Augustine Numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends The Pallbearers will be Thomas Kimball, James Kimball, Ryan Parker, Clint Augustine, Russ Nunn, and Mike Reichard. The Honorary Pallbearers will be the Sears Retirement Group and Dr. Jerry Isles. The family will receive friends at Pentecostals of the Miss-Lou, Ferriday, LA from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2010.
