Funeral services for Johnny G. "Red" Robertson, Jr. 88 of Ferriday, LA will be held at First Baptist Church Ferriday, LA on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Roger Johnson and Bro. Stacey Morgan officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Mausoleum under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends First Baptist Church of Ferriday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 7, 2013. Johnny Robertson was born on June 28, 1924 in Shreveport, LA to Johnny Gurden Robertson Jr. and Hazel Virgina Robertson. He passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Camelot Nursing Home in Ferriday. Coach Robertson brought pride to the community by achieving four state football championships and having fifty-four games without a loss. Mr. Robertson served the youth of Concordia Parish as Teacher/Coach, Principal, Supervisor of Federal Programs and Director of Concordia Parish Vo-Tech. He provided valuable services to his community by serving as Summer Recreational Director and Director of the Board for Riverland Medical Center, assisting in the organization of Dixie Youth Baseball League, actively participating in both the Ferriday First Baptist Church and the Kiwanis Club. He has received both the state and national recognition by his induction into the Northwestern State Hall of fame, Louisiana High School Hall of Fame, Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame as well as being awarded the Amateur Football Award from the National Football and College Hall of Fame. He proudly served this country as an active member of the United States Navy. He was an avid golfer spending many afternoons at Panola Woods Country Club but the true love of his life is his beloved wife Jimmie He was preceded in death by: Parents, two brothers Gruden Emile Robertson and James Milton Robertson. Survivors include: His wife of 58 years Jimmie S. Robertson of Ferriday, LA Four sons John G. Robertson, III, David C. Robertson and wife Belinda of Baton Rouge, LA, Mike Roberson of Baton Rouge, LA, Todd Robertson and wife Robin of Tyler, TX, sister Hazel Jaqueline Robertson of Victoria, TX. Also surviving are a number of grandchildren. The Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to a special thanks to Dr. Huey Moak and the staff at Camelot Nursing Home.
