Memorial services for Martha James Rabb, 82 of Ferriday,LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 02, 2014 at 12:00 PM with Rev. Clyde Ray Webber officiating. Interment will follow at Monclova Cemetery, Waterproof, LA under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home from 10:00 AM til 12:00 PM, Tuesday, December 02, 2014. Martha Rabb was born on Saturday, August 20, 1932 in Charleston, MS. and passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Camelot Leisure Living. She was a resident of Ferriday and a member of Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church of Ferriday. Martha graduated from Waterproof High School in 1950 and attended Northwestern State University with a degree in Education. She was married to Nolan Lee Rabb Jr. and moved to Ferriday, LA where she taught elementary education for many years. Upon the death of her husband in 1968 she took over the family cattle and farming business. She returned to teaching years later and continued her career by serving on the Concordia Parish School Board for seversl terms until retiring in 2011 due to poor health. She had a deep passion for education and a great love for the many children she taught over the years. She touched each child's life in a positive way and each child loved her dearly. She also loved horses and had many cutting horses throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orrin and Myrtle James; husband, Nolan Lee Rabb, Jr.; son, Nolan Lee Rabb III; and sister, Jacqueline James Gibson. She is survived by two sons, Nolan Edward "Ed" Rabb and his wife Brenda of St. Joseph, LA and Claude Rabb and his wife Christi of Ferriday, LA; two grandsons, Cash Lee Rabb, Nolan Ryan Rabb; one granddaughter Michelle Rabb Bauman and her husband Scott; brother, George James of Waterproof, LA; and two great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Camelot Leisure Living for their deep love and care they gave Mrs. Rabb while she was a resident. The family also wants to thank Dr. Huey Moak for his great care and friendship to Mrs. Rabb. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or a Children's Charity of Choice.
