Funeral services for Mr. Roy Wilfred Kemp, 86 ,of Monterey, LA will be held at Young's Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Rod Reynolds officiating under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday Mr. Kemp was born May 05, 1921 in Lafayette, LA and passed away Sunday August 19, 2007 at Natchez Community Hospital Natchez,MS. He was a resident of Monterey, an Avid Sports Fan, Coached Dixie League Baseball for 11 years. He played football, baseball and boxed for La Tech. He loved music , belonged to a band at age 12 and played all instruments by ear. He pursued a degree in Agriculture at La Tech serving in ROTC until Army Activation. Activated into service for 5 Years Training troops, he attained the rank of Captain. He served in the United States Army Reserves for 5 more years after active duty. Mr. Kemp was Manager for Marathon Oil Co. , a Farmer and School Bus Driver for Concordia Parish. He drove a bus for Senior Citizen Activities in Concordia Parish, Owned and operated Kemp"s Landing in Monterey, La. He was a Deacon in Monterey Baptist Church then became a member of the Living Church Of God in 1975. He was preceded in Death by: Father-Riplon Waller Kemp Mother-Edna Brock Kemp Brother-Ogden Kemp Brother-Victor Kemp Sister-Clara Mae Pittard Sister-Geri Woodard Sister-Hilda Garcia Sister-Marie Roberts Survivors include: Wife of 63 years Carolyn Kemp of Monterey, La. Sister-Wilkie Hale of West-Monroe, La. Daughter-Kathryn and her husband Larry Waldorff of Blountstown, Fla. Daughter-Gayle and her husband Grover Dixon of Houston, Texas Son-Ronald and his wife Bernice Kemp of Maylene, Ala. Son-Ryan and his wife Jayne Kemp of Monterey, La. Son-Sandon Kemp of Monterey, La. 13 Grandchildren- Jaycee Moore, David and Matthew Rhodes, Ronald Jr. , Heather and Lori Kemp, Audra Ray , Ryan Kemp Jr.and Robert Kemp, Jaquelyn Duncan, Sandon, Wyatt and Micalet Kemp. 10 Greatgrand children- Jenny, Justin, Jessica and Joseph Moore, Miranda Rhodes, Moria Ray, Paige and Josh Fitt, Elizabeth Duncan and Kaylee Kemp Pallbearers will be grandsons, Sandon Kemp Jr. , Ryan Kemp Jr., Wyatt Kemp, David Rhodes, Matt Rhodes , Ronald Kemp Jr. and Robert Kemp Honorary Pallbearers are William Walters and Curtis Lambright The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM Tuesday, August 21, 2007.
