Verdya Taylor Wiley

Kathryn Verdya Taylor Wiley, a resident of Winnfield, Louisiana and a native of Jonesville, Louisiana died December 28, 2006 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Wayne and Barbara Wiley of Winnfield, three grandchildren, Anastasia "Staci�, J.W. Jr. and Kathryn, of Winnfield; brothers and sisters in law, Ed and Ann Taylor, Emmitt and Doris Taylor of Jonesville, and Jimmy and Pat Taylor of Gardner. She is additionally survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and former students. She is preceded in death by her husband, James F. Wiley; her parents, Brantley and Bertha Taylor, and two brothers, N.B., of Crowley and Arthur of Jonesville. She graduated in 1932 at Jena High School, due to the flood at Jonesville where she previously attended. She is a graduate of Northwestern State University formerly called State Normal College in 1941. She taught sixth grade her first two years at Jena High School and then taught thirty-three years in Jonesville. When they built a new elementary school, she set up a school library with the help of many friends. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Jonesville First Baptist Church until she moved to Winnfield in 1992. She became a member of Laurel Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday night from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Jonesville. Her funeral service will be Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Jonesville, LA, with Brother Lloyd Trisler, Dr. Ralph Webber, and Brother Marshall Douglas. Burial will be at the Graham Cemetery in Nebo, LA. The service is under the direction of Young�s Funeral Home of Jonesville, LA. Pallbearers will be her grandson, Jimmy Wayne Wiley, Jr. and nephews, Michael Taylor, Drewitt Taylor, Mark Taylor, Dale Taylor, Darryl Taylor, Jason Taylor, Ladd Taylor, Matt Taylor, Drew Taylor, Justin Taylor, Brantley Taylor, Dusty Taylor, and Ray Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be J.B Coon, James Hutchins, and Jimmy Vail of Winnfield, Louisiana. Memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA 71211.
