Funeral services for Vernon Morris White, Sr., 74 of Ferriday, LA will be held at Ferriday Church of God on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Brian Joseph Smith officiating.The family will receive friends at Ferriday Church of God from 6:00 PM til on Friday, June 27, 2014. Interment will follow at Harrisonburg Cemetery, Harrisonburg, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. Morris White, Sr. was born on Friday, June 21, 1940 in Pineville, LA. and passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 in Ferriday, LA. Morris was a very active member in Concordia Parish. He served as the Director of Homeland Security for over 31 years. Morris also flew for Civil Air Patrol, Chamber of Commerce President and was a School Board Member. He flew many rescue missions. He built his first airplane and flew it off Hwy 84. Morris was always willing to jump into action in any emergency situation. He loved his family and his community. Other achievements was a very committed 32nd Degree Mason for Lodge 390 with over 50 years service. This is just a very small list of accomplishments of Morris White. Morris loved hunting, fishing and life to the fullest. If you met him once you never forgot him. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Vernon Edward White, Sr. and Lillian Wiley White; his wife of 58 years, Mary Belle Skipper White; daughter, Glenda Nell White and son-in-law, Buddy James Holoman Survivors include two daughters, Janice Lynn Crochet and her husband, Terry, of Ferriday, LA and Gail Dean Holoman of Vidalia, LA; two sons, Vernon Morris White Jr. and his wife Needra of Ferriday, LA and Vernon Edward White of Waterproof, LA; two sisters, Rena Mae White Brock of TX and Annette White Young of Natchez, MS; one niece, Brenda Joyce Luneau of Ferriday, LA; ten grandchildren Christopher Lee Crochet, Melissa Crochet, Tonya Lynn Stamey and her husband Rick, Benjamin Shawn Crochet and his wife Crystal, Edwin Matthew Jackson Jr., Merry Elizabeth Crochet and Glenn Adam Sandell, Jasmine Marie White, Lillian Amber White, Nikki Nicole Holoman and Crystal Nicole Rowell; nine great-grandchildren, Tristan Lee Crochet, Kaylin White, Shawn Hunter White, Nichole Rowell, Olivia Butler, Tristan Hunter Crochet, Kaylab and Landen, Pheobe Stamey and Aubree Jade Crochet Pallbearers will be Vernon Morris White Jr., Vernon Edward White, Terry Lee Crochet, Christopher Lee Crochet, Vernon Morris White III "Bubba" and Edwin Mathew Jackson Honorary Pallbearers will be Benjamin Shawn Crochet, Rick Foster, Raymond Skipper, Randy Maxwell, Rick Stamey.
