Services for Dwight Darcy Edwards will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Mayna Church of God, with Bros. Lloyd Trisler and Kenny Smith officiating. Interment will follow at a private family cemetery in Sicily Island. Visitation will be held from 10 am - 11 am at the church, which is located at 26246 Hwy 124, Jonesville, LA. Dwight Edwards, 70, passed away in his sleep at his residence at Larto Lake on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Dwight is preceded in death by his father Lawrence Desmond Edwards, Sr.; mother Iola Yvonne White Edwards; mother-in-law Francis Cotherman Ford; and sister Gloria Jeannette Sanders. Dwight was a graduate of Central High School in Larto, and Northeast State University (ULM) in Monroe, LA. Dwight worked in the oil field industry in safety and compliance; and also served as a teacher. Dwight’s family was his essence for being. He always put his family first, and loved spending time with his grandkids. He dabbled in many hobbies in retirement, but white perch fishing in his beloved Larto Lake was his Alpha and Omega. He also enjoyed entertaining his family and friends at his lakeside home. He especially loved watching LSU football complete its championship run. Finally, Dwight reveled in Mardi Gras festivities, and was one of the founding fathers of the Larto Lake Mardi Gras Parade. Those left to cherish Dwight’s memory are his wife of 47 years, Linda Ford Edwards; and children, Aaron Dwight Edwards and wife Kayla of Pineville; Charles Lawrence Edwards of Shreveport; and Yvie Edwards Fry and husband Trevor of Prospect; and 7 grandchildren, Aaron Dwight Edwards, Jr. (“AJ”), Adam Scott Fry, Charles Joseph Edwards, Jack Holden Fry, Luke Selby Fry, Rowan Elizabeth Edwards, and Zoe Lynn Edwards. Dwight was also survived by his siblings LD Edwards and wife Touzette of Larto; Patricia LaPrairie and husband Nelson of Jonesville; Lawrence Edwards, Jr. and wife Joann of Jonesville; Mickey Edwards and wife Robin of Enterprise; and cousin Linda Wilkerson of Larto. The family requests memorials be made in Dwight’s memory to Central High School, 244 Larto Bayou Rd, Jonesville, LA 71343.
