Barr Brown

Funeral services for Mr. Barr Brown, 50, of Natchez, MS will be held at First Baptist Church of Natchez on December 15, 2006 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Bill Hurt officiating. Interment will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home, Vidalia. Barr was born September 14, 1956 in Natchez, MS to Jack and Martha Burns Brown and passed away Sunday December 10, 2006 near Waco, TX. He was a resident of Natchez. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1974 and was considered one of the best football players in the Natchez area. He walked on to play football at LSU, later earning a scholarship. His football career at LSU ended after suffering from knee injuries. He graduated from LSU in 1978 and went on to work at the Big 8 Accounting Firm of Arthur Young in Houston, TX. From there he served as CFO for Kasler Corporation in San Bernadino, CA. He worked in financial and corporate development positions in Palmetto, LA for Louisiana Seafood, and in Natchez, for Equity Corporation International. He had recently retired from LHC Group, based in Lafayette, LA, as Partner, Senior Vice President, and CFAO. He is the owner of Doe�s Steakhouse of Lafayette, one of his more recent business ventures. He left tremendous marks in every capacity that he worked in his professional career. He attended First Baptist Church of Natchez. Barr�s two greatest loves were his family and his work. He was also an avid sports fan and faithful follower of LSU sports. He had a great love and commitment to his third love, Trinity Episcopal, which incorporated much of his first love, for his family. You could always see him at sporting events on the sidelines, announcing from the press box, taping boys in the locker room, or working anywhere and everywhere to lend a hand where it was needed. He was the number one supporter and fan of all Trinity students and athletes, but his three boys, Cole, Chase, and Preston were the driving forces behind his commitment to Trinity. He had just begun a new legacy with his son Jack Daylon, working to install a new playground. If time had permitted he would have been seen on the sidelines or in the stands supporting him, as well. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend, and will be missed more than words could ever describe. He was preceded in Death by: Parents-Jack & Martha Burns Brown Survivors include: His wife-Beth Brown of Natchez, Ms. Three sons-Cole Brown of Lafayette, La.,Chase Brown and Jack Daylon Brown both of Natchez, Ms. A step-son - Preston Parish of Natchez, Ms. Two sisters-RoAnn Powlett of Brandon, Ms. And Jackie Ezell and husband Ken of Natchez, Miss. Three nephews: Steve Powlett & wife Sandy of Canton, Ms. Ben Powlett & wife Lisa of Brandon, Ms. And Jason Ezell & wife Amie of Lafayette, La. A nieces-Eden Ezell of Lafayette, La. His father and mother-in-law-Charles & Sue Cooper of Rockville, IN And a brother-in-law-Jeff Cooper & wife Brenda of Rockville, IN The Pallbearers will be: Steve Phillips, Michael Murphy, Rusty Brown, Jim Wilson, Greg Ketchings, David King, Duke Edwards and Jo Jo Eidt, The Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Myers, and the LHC Family, Ken Beesley, Roy Garcia, and the Cathedral football team of 1974, Emmett Burns, Brian Miller, Jim Hunter, Rudy Wilson, Matt Mason, and Johnny Rachal.
