Glenn Earl Ratcliff

Funeral services for Glenn Ratcliff will be held at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Wayne Gray and Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Lynn Cemetery in Archibald, La. under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday. Mr. Ratcliff was born April 07, 1934 in Monroe, LA , the son of Ollie & Annie Mae Ratcliff. He was a resident of Ferriday since 1960 and a long time member of First Baptist Church. He served as deacon, taught 5th & 6th grade boys and girls Sunday School for over 15 years, and he was an active member of the adult choir for many years. Mr. Ratcliff owned and operated Concordia Drug of Ferriday as a pharmacist for over 32 years. He served on the Ferriday Town Council as Alderman for 13 years, Past President of Kiwanis Club of Commerce of Ferriday as well as serving and coordinating volunteers for the Ferriday Delta Museum. He was preceded in Death by: Parents and one sister Peggy Hill Survivors include: Wife of 50 years-Mickey Brown Ratcliff of Ferriday, La. Daughter-Donna Ratcliff Melson & husband Brian of Columbia, S.C. Son-Dan Ratcliff & wife Alisa of Natchez, Miss. Son-David Ratcliff & wife Darla of Prairieville, La. Sister-Mary Lynn Smart & husband Clinton of Archibald, La. 12 Grandchildren-Leah, Clayton, Hope & Hannah Melson; Andrew, Johnathan & Rebecca Ratcliff; Matthew, Nicholas & Jarrett Gautreau; Lawson & Malory Ratcliff Host of nieces and nephews. The Pallbearers will be Rusty Wood, Charlie Smart, Wayne Smart, Glenn Smart, Brent Smart, and John Taylor The Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Smith, Dr. Herman Gibson, Floyd Bruce Boughton, Tommy Massey, Deacons of First Baptist Church of Ferriday and Members of Ferriday Kiwanis Club. Many thanks and God's blessing to those who cared for Glenn, especially his friend Dr. Herman Gibson, the nurses and staff at Heritage Manor Nursing Home and the church family, friends, and neighbors who have shown their love and support during his illness the past few years. The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2007 and Wednesday, February 14, 2007 from 10:00 AM until service time at First Baptist Church of Ferriday. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Ferriday, LA Baptist Children's Home, or a charity of your choice.
