Funeral services for James Herbert Terry, 91 of Harrisonburg,LA will be held at the First Baptist Church of Harrisonburg on Monday, March 09, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Reid Terry, Dr. Emil Turner and Bro Cory Bruce officiating. Interment will follow at Harrisonburg Cemetery, Harrisonburg, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the First Basptist Church of Harrisonburg from 5:00 PM til 9:00 PM, Sunday, March 08, 2015 and 10:00 AM until time of service on Monday, March 9,2015. James Herbert Terry was born on Wednesday, September 19, 1923 in Aimwell, LA. and passed away Friday, March 06, 2015 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. He was a resident of Harrisonburg and a member of the First Baptist Church of Harrisonburg where he served as a deacon for 60 years,a Sunday School Director and a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Terry was a member of Harrisonburg Cemetery Board, Catahoula Parish Library Board and the Harrisonburg Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Mr. Terry was a life-long business man who owned and operated Terry's Hardware in Jonesville and Harrisonburg, LA , co- founded and served as an officer at Jonesville Bank & Trust Co., and operated Terry LLC until his death. He was also an educator in Catahoula Parish for 25 years. Mr. Terry proudly served his Country in the United States Army during WWII He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Abram and Rita McGuffee Terry, his wife of 60 years, Juanita Joyce Terry, and his son, Malcolm Terry. He is survived by two sons, Greg Terry and his wife, Sharron, of Harrisonburg, LA and Ken Terry and his wife, Lucy, of Harrisonburg, LA; two daughters, Janell Agan and her husband, Steve, of Lead, SD and DeDe Iles and her husband, Curt, of Entebbe, Uganda; daughter-in-law, Kay Terry of Harrisonburg, LA; and special cousins, Melba Bradford, Slagle McGuffee, and Shirley Bartmess. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 31 Great-grandchildren Pallbearers will be Jeff Pentecost, Dean Cannaday, David Joe McGuffee, Mike McGuffee, David Mitchell, Robert Bradley, Mike Johnson and Randy Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Harrisonburg. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Harrisonburg, Gideons International or Open Hands Ministries.
