Marcia Kay Goeggle (Ater)

Funeral services for Mrs. Marcia Kay Ater Goeggle age, 70, of Ferriday, La. who passed away Saturday August 21, 2010, will be Monday August 23, 2010, at Sevier United Methodist Church in Ferriday at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ray Varnado officiating. Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday. The family will receive friends on Sunday August 22, 2010 at Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Kay attended school in Monticello, Illinois, where she married. She was active in the Cisco United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School. Along with her husband Jack, they were an active farming family and moved to Tallulah, Louisiana, where they continued farming and ultimately moved to Ferriday in the early 1970's. She was dedicated to her husband, children, grandchildren and farming operation. She belonged to the National Association of Realtors licensed both in Illinois and Louisiana. She also enjoyed her position as court reporter for Concordia Parish and the friends she made while there. She was also a certified paralegal. An active genealogist, she researched extensively. Reading was a favorite hobby, along with horseback riding. She loved horses and boxers and was involved in showing and breeding through the American Quarter Horse Association and American Kennel Association. She was a member of the Sevier Memorial United Methodist Church in Ferriday, Louisiana and the Bruin Vidal Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the women's service organization and American National CowBelles, serving as local and state officers. She was preceded in death by her husband William Jack Goeggie and parents Donald and LaVonne Ater. Survivors include Son-John Goeggle of Ferriday, La. Son-Jeff Goeggle of Monterey, La. Brother-Donald Willard Ater Brother-Edward William Ater and wife Mignonne Brother-Alan Ray Ater and wife Susie Sister-Lynette Ater Tanner and husband Buddy Grandchildren-Joni Michelle McKenzie, John William Goeggle III, Justin Ray Goeggle, and Jory Brice Goeggle Great grandchildren-Harley Metcalf, Jacie Rae Goeggle, Jensyn Drew Goeggle, Ava Katherine McKenzie, and Addison Alysse McKenzie. Pallbearers will be John William Goeggle III, Justin Ray Goeggle, Jory Brice Goeggle, John Branton, Don Branton, Allan McKenzie.
